The Southern Coast Carbon Capture & Clean Coal Power Facility is a 1,000 MW base-load plant engineered for ultra-low emissions. Package 2 focuses on installing the Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) system, the defining technology that sets this project apart from traditional thermal power.
The CCS system captures CO₂ from the plant’s exhaust gases, compresses it into a transportable form, and sends it to long-term underground storage or for industrial reuse. This step transforms the facility into one of the cleanest coal-based power plants in the Southern Hemisphere.
About Package 2
Package 2 includes the procurement, installation, and commissioning of the full CCS infrastructure:
- Flue Gas Ducting & Pre-Treatment Units – Directing exhaust gases from boilers to the capture system while removing particulates.
- Amine-Based CO₂ Capture Units – Chemical absorption towers capable of 90% CO₂ removal.
- CO₂ Compression Systems – Multi-stage compressors for pipeline or tanker transport.
- Underground Injection Wells – For permanent CO₂ storage in deep saline aquifers.
- Industrial Offtake Facilities – Optional connections for CO₂ supply to industries like cement or synthetic fuel production.
