The Northwest Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station is a flagship conventional energy project delivering 1,200 MW of reliable, base-load power to Western Australia’s industrial sector and regional communities. Using advanced combined-cycle technology, the facility captures waste heat from natural gas turbines to produce steam for a secondary turbine, increasing efficiency up to 60% while cutting emissions.
While Package 1 installs the main power generation units, Package 2 delivers the Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and essential balance-of-plant infrastructure that transforms exhaust heat into additional electricity — the system that makes combined-cycle performance possible.
About Package 2
Package 2 includes the engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the secondary steam cycle and supporting infrastructure:
- Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) – High-capacity units designed to capture exhaust heat from gas turbines and convert it into high-pressure steam.
- Boiler Feedwater Systems – Pumps, economisers, and preheating systems to maintain optimal steam generation efficiency.
- Cooling Systems – Air-cooled condensers or hybrid cooling systems to optimise steam cycle performance in varying climate conditions.
- Water Treatment Systems – Filtration and chemical treatment units to ensure steam quality and equipment longevity.
- Auxiliary Piping & Valves – All interconnecting systems for steam flow, condensate return, and safety relief.
